The Bi-Annual periodical “Epitome” is initiated to explore the capability of the students of our college and also to motivate and encourage them for research work. The focus of Epitome is to expose Students to face challenges in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data. Gauging the institution is not something that can be determined by looking at a list of simple formulaic qualifiers but the only way to properly evaluate the institution is to examine the quality of education that is imparted .to its students. Perhaps one of the best ways to accomplish this is to look at the work that the students produce while studying at our college. We have made a humble .attempt to provide a platform to showcase the work of students regardless of magnitude of the exposure.

AADHAAR – A progressing idea or a threatening issue.
The one of the buzzing issues of these days in our country is the project of “ADHAR”, which is renamed as “AADHAAR” & got a new logo depicting a yellow coloured sun and at the centre a finger print in it. This project is no new to all of us. Initially, in June, 2006, first it was to be created for the B.P.L. families only, but later it was felt that there is a requirement of unique identification proof for each resident across the country, which would be use primarily as the basis for efficient delivery of welfare services and would help govt. in monitoring of various govt. programmes. On 4th November , 2008, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) was constituted and notified by Planning Commission on 28th January , 2009 , as an attached office under the support of Planning Commission with an initial core team of 115 official. On 2nd July, 2009 , Mr. Nandan Nilekani was appointed as the Chairman of UIDAI for initial 5 yrs.
This Project will help us in ruling out frauds by employing an Unique Identification No. (U.I.N.) to each individual of our country and also by employing Biometric info. along with the U.I.N. . AADHAAR Project will use the physiological traits of a human like fingerprints , Iris scan and face (photo) as an information. This project is envisioned as Multipurpose National I.D. Card Project in India. One of the key challenges faced by the people in India is the difficulty in establishing identity. People have multiple I.D. documents , each serving different purpose. This project is a step towards putting India in the club of more than 50 countries around the world that have some kind of national I.D. cards. The most important characteristics of this U.I.N. is it’s universality. The acceptance of this card all over the country will provide several benefits like :
In fact, according to a source the Income tax department is agreed with UIDAI that the PAN cards will have same 16 digit UID no. . As in this aspect the series of meetings between the UIDAI Chief and Union Finance Minister is in the process to work out the modalities. The collaboration of UIDAI and Income Tax department will reduce the cases of Duplication of PAN cards , which were recovered during the IT searches and several raids conducted by the Police and Enforcement Agencies. By February, 2011 the new scheme Aadhaar 16 - digit no. may be rolled out and this process will curtail a person to have more than one PAN card.
The UIDAI project has got a large amount of investment in it. About crores of rupees are invested in this project. This project has been allocated Rs. 1900 Cr. in the current financial year which is to be ended by March , 2011. Moreover, apart from these the 13th Financial Commission has sanctioned Rs. 3000 Cr. for the coming 5 yrs., as money is not a issue here. Thus, we can say that government is making a huge investment for the upliftment of the nation. As mentioned above, with the help of this project the people of our country will get a large no. of benefits , but , at the same time we must not forget the limitations and threats that will be faced by our nation cause of it. Some of the limitations & threats are mentioned below :
Aadhaar India has got mixed reactions from the public, after it was introduced. This is because of the benefits as well as the threats associated with it. In developed nations like U.K. , U.S.A. and Australia this concept of ID cards didn’t work due to cost and privacy implications. Today , in India also the success of this concept is still a question mark as the threats associated with it are big and the investments are huge. India has got a population of about 1.2 billion , and the social , economical and political issues related with such a vast democracy is also very complex. Handling a project like Aadhaar is a big challenge in itself for Mr. Nilekani. Issuing about 1.2 billion ID cards is not a work of ease. After seeing the mismanagement of two big projects Common wealth games and National e – governance plan (NEGP) , one of the very obvious question arising from each individual of our country is that “How much effective would be Aadhaar in future , after it will be implemented ?” Hope Mr. Nilekani’s “IMAGINING INDIA” as one of the empowering nations of the world come true with the progressing idea of Aadhar India.
